Status of vinyl reissues?

Patrick or someone in the know:

I was wondering if you had any updates as to where the long-awaited re-presses of YLT and GBV are in the queue at RTI. They didn't see the light of day in 2008... do you think they will be out in '09?

Thanks in advance for any info...

Are they doing Alien Lanes? That re-press that came out in 2003 or so was probably one of the worst vinyl pressings I've ever encountered. Here's hoping that this latest run of re-presses is considerably better than the hilariously titled "House of Quality" series.

RTI is still way way backed up.

I believe that there is some loosening ahead in the pipeline though.

Are there any Pavement records in that pipeline? Particularly Wowee Zowee? I can't seem to find one on ebay that doesn't end below $40 or so.

First, how do people feel about 120 gram vinyl? It's faster to turn around, and I'd say that RTI 120 is better than United 180 (actually I prefer the sound of 120 in general, but that's another story - 180 is more resistant to warpage). What about if it were the same price as 180?

Second, the following are en route to Matador right now, in RTI 180:

Cat Power - You Are Free
Cat Power - The Greatest
Cat Power - Moon Pix

More to come.

What about splitting the difference and pressing on 150?

I'm totally fine with 120, but I'd hope it were a little cheaper, seeing as its cheaper to press, but then again if it were 120 vinyl with slick heavy Stoughton/tip-on sleeves (even for releases that didn't originally have 'em) I'd be fine with paying a hair more.

I don't have strong feelings on the grams so 120 is fine with me.

Question: Yo La Tengo's Painful - is that in the pipeline?

I don't think RTI does 150. Our old 150 gram pressings were done at 33 1/3, which has now shut down.

Here's what's in the pipeline, allegedly (keep in mind that some of these have been in the pipeline for over a year now):

Soon:

Pavement - Crooked Rain
Pavement - Wowee Zowee
Belle and Sebastian - If You're Feeling Sinister
Belle and Sebastian - The Boy With The Arab Strap
Belle and Sebastian - Tigermilk
Belle and Sebastian - Fold Your Hands Child
Interpol - Turn On The Bright Lights
Interpol - Antics
Yo La Tengo - I Am Not Afraid Of You

Next:

Guided By Voices - Alien Lanes
Yo La Tengo - Electr-o-pura
Guided By Voices - UTBUTS
Cat Power - What Would The Community Think
Yo La Tengo - I Can Hear The Heart
Cat Power - The Covers Record
The New Pornographers - Electric Version

After that:

The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema

Problematic (but we're working on it):

Yo La Tengo - Painful
Yo La Tengo - And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside-Out
Mogwai - Happy Songs for Happy People

tino, most of the jackets on these are being printed at Ivy, because that's where they were originally done and they have all the films to their specs.

Btw these are almost all coming on 180 I believe. But we are considering 120 in order to speed things up... the problem is that if people aren't willing to pay close to the same amount, it is difficult for us to make them work economically. Our vinyl margins are razor-thin even at the prices we charge.

makes sense, I was just imagining how cool it would be to get a sweet heavy jacketed cover with, say, Painful. But just getting Painful again after sadly losing it to a bad record borrowing roommate will be enough...
